Lina Marouf, MD

Dr. Marouf has been in private practice since 1993. She understands patients concerns, fears, and the need to help them understand their medical challenges related to their eyes. As vice president of Retina Associates of South Texas, PA, she is dedicated to providing excellence in patient care. Dr. Marouf is a board certified diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academic of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists. 

Education and Training
Dr. Marouf began her career in ophthalmology as a full time clinical professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1989. She received her medical degree from American University of Beirut in Lebanon, and completed a residency in ophthalmology and fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at Texas Tech University. She has participated in multiple, nationwide clinical trials involving macular degeneration, intraocular tumors and retinopathy of prematurity. Dr. Marouf has been named among “Best Doctors in America,” for several years running.

Personal Notes

Dr. Marouf is married to Timothy P. Cleland, MD, and has two children, Sami and Rea. She is fluent in English, Arabic, French, and medical Spanish. Dr. Marouf enjoys being a full-time physician, wife, and mother. Her interests include traveling, home decorating, cooking, and reading.
