Juan Rubio Jr. MD

Dr. Rubio originally practiced at Retina Associates of South Texas, P.A. from July 2002 to July 2005 before returning to New Orleans where he served as a clinical assistant professor in the Retina Service of the LSU Eye Center in New Orleans.  He later joined the Ochsner Medical Center, Department of Ophthalmology working as a staff physician in the Retina-Vitreous Section.  While working at LSU and Ochsner, he had the privilege of training several outstanding ophthalmology fellows, residents, medical students, and technicians.

Education and Training
A native of El Salvador, Dr. Rubio moved to New Orleans in 1980.  Dr. Rubio received both his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and his Master of Science degree in Biostatistics from Tulane University, and his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1996.  He subsequently completed a preliminary medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at Ochsner.  He completed his retina/vitreous fellowship with the world renowned Dr. Steve Charles in Memphis, Tennessee.

Personal Notes

Dr. Rubio enjoys spending time with his wife Ileana and his daughter, Analisa.  His interests include listening to music and watching spectator sports including the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints football teams.  Dr. Rubio is also fluent in both written and spoken Spanish.
