Waseem H. Ansari, MD

Dr. Ansari is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He trained under world renowned leaders in his field at the Cleveland Clinic and the Retina Institute of St. Louis, to specialize in the treatment of the retina and vitreous. Dr. Ansari has participated in clinical trials, published numerous journal articles, and presented at multiple national conferences. His areas of interest include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, surgical management of macular holes and epiretinal membranes, retinal vascular disease, and uveitis. Dr. Ansari holds an academic appointment as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Education and training

Dr. Ansari was raised in Dallas, TX and completed his bachelors at Austin College with a double major in biochemistry and mathematics. He then received his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston, where he stayed to complete his year of medical internship. Dr. Ansari went on to complete his residency in Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute in Ohio. Afterwards, he trained in a vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Retina Institute of St. Louis, one of the premier programs in the country.

Dr. Ansari, his wife, and their toddler son live in San Antonio. His hobbies include music production, photography, traveling, and reading.
